Creating more diverse and inclusive spaces through reflection and film.

The Natiguh Company believes in the power of self reflection to emancipate oneself from mental slavery.

Founded by Thais Francis a queer immigrant black woman who understands the hurdles that one must overcome to live authentically. She uses her gifts to inspire others who may struggle with their identity or sense of belonging. After graduating from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, she went on to write, produce and direct for theater and film garnering several awards including the Discover Award from Essence Black Women in Hollywood, as well as the Congressional Black Caucus. Combining her love of storytelling and mental liberation she has created the Natiguh Company to educate and inspire.

In Caribbean dialect “Natiguh" translates to "Naughty Girl". Borne out of rebellion, this company is for the empowerment of marginalized voices who refuse to be boxed in. Through the use of film, dialogue and interactive workshops, Thais uses critical thinking and art to bring more diverse, equitable and inclusive programming to companies and institutions. With a focus on LGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color individuals and women, Thais creates spaces where their experiences are centered, and support is given.

Having Thais come to screen her films had a huge impact on our student body. The students were able to engage in discourse around identity in a nuanced way that was only possible due to Thais's unique perspective and work”
